Arsenal are leading the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson
Cavani for £51 million. The former Napoli frontman has also been
tracked by Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea but could be heading
to north London.
Cavani has been strongly linked with a move to the Gunners in the
last few days, with his agent ramping up the talk by admitting he has
previously been approached by Arsene Wenger.
The Uruguayan striker has since played down transfer talk, insisting
he expects to stay put, but respected Spanish journalist Kike Marin says
Arsenal are still hoping to do business.
He says that Wenger remains a huge fan of Cavani and would love to bring him to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
The transfer would hinge on whether PSG can complete the protracted
signing of Angel Di Maria, with the French club happy to offload Cavani
if a deal for Di Maria can be agreed.
Cavani is rated at about £51million and has been linked with Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea this summer.
