Liverpool Hopes Of Singning Marco Reus Is Lifted As Bayern Munich Drop Out Of The Running
Reus is destined to leave Dortmund in the near future after turning down the offer of a new contract with the Bundesliga giants – and refusing to change his mind.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is said to be keener than ever to sign the Germany international, and the club have now been given fresh hope of landing his services after it emerged that Bayern Munich dropped out of the race.
“There have been no talks with Bayern” said Reus’ agent, Dirk Hebel, denying that a switch was in the pipeline.
Liverpool feel that they can bring the playmaker to Anfield by matching his £19.8m buyout clause that is set to come into play next summer, making his acquisition a bargain of the highest order.
Reus missed Germany’s World Cup win this summer through injury, and Dortmund fans will be relieved that another one of their star players will not be heading to Bayern, even if they must resign themselves to a future without him first.
Juventus On the Verge Of Signing Man United Striker Javier Hernandez
The move may well assist in Louis van Gaal’s pursuit of Chilean
midfielder Arturo Vidal, with Chicharito’s proposed move to Turin
perhaps part of a player exchange offer, and will help to resurrect the
Mexican’s career.
Hernandez has struggled to retain a foothold in the Man United starting eleven over the past four seasons, making just six Premier League starts last term, but when called upon has scored regularly.
The Guadalajara born ace finds himself behind Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck in the Man United pecking order and things don’t appear likely to improve under van Gaal.
Javier Hernandez has scored 59 goals in 152 appearances for Man United, 69 of those appearances coming from the bench, and deserves regular first team action.
One does wonder if he’ll secure that under Massimiliano Allegri at Juventus given the presence of Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez in the Serie A side’s squad.
The pair scored 35 Serie A goals between them last term.

Pepe Reina completes transfer from Liverpool to Bayern Munich
The Spain international goalkeeper, who spent last season on loan at
Napoli, has signed a three-year deal with the German champions.
He will provide back-up to Germany international Manuel Neuer at the Allianz Arena.
Reina, who will turn 32 at the end of August, was a regular at Liverpool for eight seasons before Brendan Rodgers signed Belgium's Simon Mignolet from Sunderland last summer.

Barcelona have agreed a £15million transfer fee with Arsenal to sign Thomas Vermaelen
Barcelona are set to sign Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen. Two clubs have agreed a £15million transfer fee for the the defender, Vermaelen's
deal is now pending personal terms, with Barca representatives offering
a four-year contract worth £80,000 a week on Wednesday. Vermaelen's Barca four-year contract will have the option of an extra year. Belgian international's transfer is a blow to Manchester United who wanted to secure him on a three-year contract. United offered £15million but Gunners wanted Chris Smalling in a swap deal. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has agreed to let captain leave
Mancity is not good for a young English player

'I certainly think I would have been
playing at the World Cup. It’s just not worked out over the last two seasons
and that’s why I am here (at Sunderland) now.'
Rodwell had several options over the
close-season but, after a meeting with Black Cats boss Gus Poyet, he was sold
on Wearside.
'The manager just came across really
well, he’s someone who has done it at the top level and he knows what the
players need,' he went on.
'He’s obviously got good
man-management skills, he said I’d be playing every week as well and that’s the
main thing for me.
Rodwell was
rated as one of the best talents in the world at 16 years of age when he
became Everton's youngest-ever European player.
Three England caps followed but he hasn't appeared since the 2-2 draw with Brazil in Rio last summer.
Rodwell
is keen to stress that he was fit for 47 of City's 57 matches last
season but simply was not selected by Manuel Pellegrini.
And that, he argues, robbed him of the chance of a return to Brazil as part of Roy Hodgson's squad.
Mancity vs Arsenal Posssible Squad tomorrow at 16.45(EAT)
The season’s curtain raiser takes place this weekend
at Wembley as FA Cup winners Arsenal face Premier League champions Manchester
City in the Community Shield. We take a look at a possible dream team.
Arsenal will head into the Community Shield game
knowing that a win will only add to the confidence and momentum, which has been
created following their victory in the FA Cup final last season. Who will win the battle of the
Arsenal strikers? While Arsene Wenger longed for more options upfront last
season, the Arsenal manager now has a plethora of candidates fighting for a
starting role. Olivier Giroud is currently the man in possession, but the
Frenchman may not have regained fitness in time for Sunday's match. In his
absence Wenger could decide to employ the new man at the Emirates,Sanchez, has
the potential to become the star of the Premier League this season after a very
strong World Cup. Or he could plump for either Yaya Sanogo, who scored four
goals in a pre-season win over Benfica last week, or Joel Campbell.

Villa complete Cissokho deal
Aston Villa have completed the signing of Aly Cissokho from Valencia for an undisclosed fee.he 26-year-old French left-back, who spent last season on loan at Liverpool, has signed a four-year deal.
The former Lyon man earned his sole international cap in 2011 and moved to Valencia the following year, after spells with Porto and Vitoria Setubal.
He will fill a hole in defence for Villa manager Paul Lambert, who has already signed Joe Cole, Philippe Senderos and Kieran Richardson this summer.
Cissokho made 15 Premier League appearances for Premier League runners-up Liverpool last season, having won the Portuguese league title during his time at Porto, and the French Cup while at Lyon.
His first Premier League game for Liverpool was at Villa Park and he told AVTV: "Destiny has made it so that Villa Park was where I played my first game and now, one year later, I am wearing the shirt.
"I remember everything about the game, because it was my first here in England. The pitch, the stadium, the fans, everything was incredible.
"After I finished my loan with Liverpool, I was keen to come back to play football in England. I knew that Aston Villa were interested and I was very excited to come here."The squad we have here is very good, we have some very talented players.
"It is very exciting to meet the squad and start training with them. My mentality is always to give my best for my team mates and the fans."
Villa boss Paul Lambert said: "Aly has big game experience, he's not a novice.
"He comes across really well and he is somebody I think will be an asset. He's big, strong and powerful.
"There's great competition for places now and that's what we're trying to create.
"We've brought some new lads in and hopefully we can bring in one or two more players to make the squad even stronger."

The New Saints Skipper Fonte signs a new deal
Southampton defender Jose Fonte has signed a new three-year deal with the club, keeping him at St Mary's Stadium until 2017.
And the Portuguese centre-back, who arrived on the south coast in 2010 with the side struggling in League One, has also been named as the new club captain.
The 30-year-old defender has been a regular for the Saints during their rise, initially under Nigel Adkins and then Mauricio Pochettino, making 25 league appearances last season.
The new manager Ronald Koeman has made Fonte his skipper ahead of the new campaign, and Fonte has declared himself "very happy" to have signed a new deal.
"I'm very excited to be signing this contract. This is where I feel at home," explained Fonte.
"I've been very successful with this club in the last five years, so it was an easy decision."
And the new Saints skipper also had his say on the future of midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.
"It's very simple, Schneiderlin is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
"As a team-mate I want to have him always in front of me...he's a great player.
"For us, the team, we want him in the team."

Kiongera signs For Tanzanian Simba SC
Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) have finally allowed striker Paul Kiongera to join Tanzanian giants Simba SC, Goal can report.
KCB Coach Rishadi Shedu has revealed that Kiongera has ditched the bankers’ for Simba after asking to leave.
“Kiongera has signed for Simba SC. He was one player we did not want to lose at this stage of the Kenyan league especially when we are fighting relegation but we could not stop him because he was a free agent.
“Kiongera was supposed to join a top club in Bulgaria but when the deal fell through he returned and penned a contract which had an option of being released if he gets a club.
“We did not have an option of holding on to him and furthermore, such opportunities come once in a life time. I want to wish him all the best in his new club,” said Shedu.
Shedu however, said they have asked Simba to allow the player feature for them in upcoming three matches. “We asked them if they can allow him to come back until August. We are still fighting relegation and Kiongera was one player I was banking on for results.
“We hope Simba will allow him to feature for us in two or three matches.”

Gor Mahia Beaten 1-2 By KCCA at Kigali (Kagame Cup)
Second half substitute Brian Umony scored late to deny Gor Mahia in
the opening match of Cecafa Kagame Cup tournament at Amahoro Stadium in
Kigali, Rwanda.
Gor Mahia started the match on a positive note with striker Dan Sserunkuma putting them ahead in 27th minute. KCCA leveled matters through Brian Majwega in 57th minute before Umony struck the winner with two minutes left to full time.
Gor Mahia coach Bobby Williamson admitted that laxity in second period cost the team. “We relaxed too much in second period and allowed KCCA to dominate.
“We were not accurate in our passes and the moment you allow your opponent space in the middle of the pack…then you have to be ready to be punished and that is what exactly happened.
“We must now prepare well for our second Group match because it is a must win contest. We need to go as far as we can in this competition and our next match is a must win.”
True to Williamson’s sentiments, Gor Mahia were the better side in first half with Sserunkuma, George ‘Blackberry’ Odhiambo and Timothy Otieno coming close on several occasions.
Sserunkuma came close twice before finally finding the back of the net. Then Otieno put the ball in the net in 29th minute but the goal was ruled for offside. Gor Mahia’s style of play in that period forced KCCA to an early substitute with Majwenga coming in for Bengo.
The second half belonged to KCCA, who dominated from onset, and it looked like they could have won by a wider margin had it not been heroics from Gor Mahia captain and goalkeeper Jerim Onyango.
Brian Majwenga then put KCCA level and the goal was long overdue since they had taken control of the match. Gor Mahia then hit back with two substitutions, Simon Mburu coming in for Goddfrey 'Baba' Kizito and ‘Blackberry’ Odhiambo being rested for Joseph Kariuki.
Again keeper Onyango was forced to make another save as KCCA continued to dominate the Kenyan champions, who looked tired after an energy-sapping in first half.

Cuadrado to United is almost a done deal
The Colombian star is a key target for United boss Louis van Gaal, he is expected to move to Old Trafford any time from now after agreeing on personal terms.
United have raised up their opening £32million offer for Cuadrado to £36million shortly in a bid to get the transfer done.
Van Gaal sees the 26-year-old as a key part of his new 3-4-3 formation and expects to be able to get the player in before the start of the new season.
